In the past ten years Edge Hill University has risen more than forty places in national league tables.  We were the Times Higher Education University of the Year in 2014/15, having been shortlisted four times, and were described by the judges as “A great success story… an institution that improves and impresses year after year”.  We were also the Times and Sunday Times University of the Year for Student Retention in 2018 and in 2019 received one of just six Global Teaching Excellence Awards. Most recently, we have been named University of the Year in the Educate North Awards (2021) in recognition of our continued commitment to deliver and exceptional student experience and the exceptional progress we have made to deliver investment and innovation over the last 12 months, while placing students at the heart of everything we do. 

About the Faculty

The Faculty of Health, Social Care & Medicine at Edge Hill University is proud to be one of the largest providers of health and social care education in the North West and is now home to the new Edge Hill University Medical School.

In 2019, the University launched the Health Research Institute, a partnership between Edge Hill University and regional health professionals, which seeks to improve the quality of health and social care in the North West through education, research and innovation. 

The Faculty is made up of three schools: The School of Nursing, Midwifery & Allied Health (NMAH), The School of Applied Health & Social Care and Social Work (AHS&SW), and The Medical School. It is a dynamic Faculty which has a wide portfolio of responsive programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels which includes those leading to dual registrations and recruitment of international students.

Placement learning is key to our programmes and we have strong working relationships with external health and social care providers. In addition, the Faculty has a growing research profile with increasing numbers of research publications and external research incomes. Most importantly. ti strives to provide students with an excellent learning experience with high levels of support across theory and practice learning supported by a strong commitment to excellent research and knowledge exchange.

We have a number of strategic leadership roles within the Faculty of Health, Social Care & Medicine and are seeking individuals with organisational vision and admirable team working and interpersonal skills to lead this rapidly growing faculty to further success.
