About You 

We are looking for a dynamic NMC registered Midwife with educational experience to contribute to the teaching, learning, assessment and support of pre-registration Midwifery students. The successful applicant will need to work in partnership with the programme team, practice staff, students and service users to deliver high quality education that is relevant to maternal health service users and their families. You will need knowledge and experience that will enable them to undertake an academic assessor role and provide educational support for practice supervisors and assessors in clinical areas. You should have a current understanding of key issues pertaining to midwifery practice and maternal and child health and have a keen interest in contributing to the professional, academic, research and scholarly development of the department. There will be opportunities to be involved in research and ongoing scholarship and professional practice; this will include the development of pre and post-registration midwifery courses and participation in wider university activities relevant to the courses and their administration.

The successful applicant will require skills that encourage student engagement and those that facilitate student support. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work collaboratively with students, the programme team and administrative support staff. This will also include working with a range of partners including the NHS, Independent, Voluntary and Private sector. 

About the Role

Edge Hill University is a leading provider of Midwifery education in Cheshire and Merseyside. Our approach to teaching and learning is student-centred and employability-focused, making use of innovative curricula, simulation and quality practice learning environments. Midwifery is located In the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health within the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Medicine which delivers a diverse portfolio of Nursing Associate, Nursing, Midwifery, Social Work and Allied Health Professionals Education. 

The Midwifery team have recently gained approval for the BSc (Hons) and MSc Midwifery programmes against the NMC (2019) Standards for pre-registration Midwifery, with the view to deliver programmes approved under these standards from September 2021.

You will be required to make a significant contribution to the delivery of practice and theoretical aspects of our diverse portfolio of undergraduate and post graduate Midwifery courses and other areas of our core curriculum depending on your areas of expertise and experience. You will also be a highly credible RM with extensive experience of clinical practice.
