Your discipline. Your passion. Our success, together.

About You

You will be an enthusiastic and friendly professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills coupled with a commitment to providing an excellent student experience. You should be an experienced and effective teacher and/or clinical practitioner with an appreciation of the clinical competencies defined by our accrediting body the Society of Sports Therapists.  A desire to provide a high quality, clinically focused learning experience is essential, and your teaching will be informed by your clinical and/or research experiences.  An established research profile aligned specifically to research in sports therapy is advantageous, however research mentorship will be provided to enable your contribution to the sports therapy team.  An interest therefore in disseminating research that complements the existing research strands within sports therapy is essential, as is a willingness to contribute to a growing capacity for post-graduate supervision of graduate sports therapists.  To be successful you will further enrich our students’ experience through your expertise and subject knowledge as evidenced through your qualifications and experience. In return, you will join a forward thinking and dynamic team, a growing student body, and an evolving Level 7 curriculum within Sports Therapy.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and developing department, with a focus on progression and innovation. You will be working in an environment with excellent facilities that provide opportunities to contribute to a new and progressive portfolio of courses, with the benefit of a research led department and curriculum, with multi-disciplinary collaboration a key element of applied work.  You will be required to make a significant contribution to the delivery of our modules on Sports Therapy, including clinical supervision, and other areas of our core curriculum depending on your areas of expertise and experience. You will be expected to contribute to the research profile of the department through the activities of one of our Research Units, and to meet the qualitative and qualitative requirements for submission to the next Research Excellence Framework.

We want you to feel happy when you come to work and proud when you go home.

From the moment you join us you have the opportunity to enhance your skills. We offer a range of specialist development sessions and academic development opportunities along with an award winning and comprehensive staff health & wellbeing programme (HR Excellence Awards 2017). This means you will  receive a full academic induction, be enrolled if appropriate on our PGCTHE, benefit from the Edge Hill University CPD scheme (UKPSF) and our annual University Learning and Teaching day all to support your professional development. To support your wellbeing you are able to enjoy a lunchtime stroll across our beautiful campus, book to get a trim from our onsite hairdresser, your car valeted, or get together with colleagues over free food and drink to watch the latest film on one of our Film Nights and so much more.

This is just a taste of what we are able to offer you at Edge Hill University.
