About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow to join the Computer Science department.
As a Research Fellow, you will contribute to the development and implementation of cutting-edge research and innovation addressing the great challenges of how computer vision and AI technologies support and expedite crucial aspects of criminal justice processes. This position can be a valuable experience for learning more about academia, gaining advanced skills (e.g., computer vision, AI, deep learning, team working, etc.) and can be a valuable way to expand one’s research experience to become more competitive on the academic and industrial research job market.

The main responsibilities of the Research Fellow include: -
Develop AI model/framework for cell type identification and analysis in microscopic images.
- Take an active role in interacting, communicating, and collaborating with other involved institutes and stakeholders.
- Provide a helping hand to others in the group/department/university to promote dynamic interdisciplinary research environment.
About You
As a Research Fellow you will have: -
- Experience of engaging in personal research and the production of research outputs of a volume and standard necessary to contribute to one of the University’s REF returns.
- PhD in the broad area of Computer Science/Engineering and/or Applied Mathematics
- Research/work experience in computer vision, image processing, microscopic image analysis, deep learning, neural networks, artificial intelligence (AI) and strong computational skills.
You will also be: -
- Innovative, ambitious, self-motivated, and willingness to work as a team player within an interdisciplinary setup.
- Excited by the research and development we do and wish to be part of it.
- A Self-starter to take initiatives beyond the project-related activities.
You will be able to engage in high-quality personal research and possession of the skills of a fully trained researcher and whilst being able to proactively assess, plan and progress work activities, projects and changes within own work area using initiative and judgement and further deal with sensitive situations, handle confidential business data and maintain professionalism.
