About the Role

As Postdoctoral Research Assistant you will contribute to a funded research project examining wellbeing, loneliness, and perceived health across age, religion, and sexual identity using large-scale secondary survey data from the Community Life Survey (CLS). The role will involve quantitative data management and analysis, stakeholder and network engagement activity, dissemination support, and contribution to research outputs including reports, publications, and future funding applications.

You will work closely with the Principal Investigator to support the delivery of a wider programme of research focused on wellbeing, identity, inclusion and coaching psychology. The role provides an opportunity to contribute to impactful interdisciplinary research with academic, practitioner, and community relevance.

About You

As Post Doc Research Assistant, you will have:

• Detailed understanding and knowledge of quantitative research methods, secondary data analysis, and identity and wellbeing research within psychology or related social sciences disciplines
• Previous experience of conducting high quality research involving quantitative analysis of large or complex datasets within psychology, health, wellbeing, or related social science research
• Experience of publishing high quality academic peer reviewed articles
• Ability to communicate new and complex information effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to present research results at department meetings and conferences
• Ability to operate flexibly and reliably, adapting to change as required

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Post Doctoral Research Assistant.

Your main duties and responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out literature searchers, study selection, data analysis, data extraction, quality appraisal, and qualitative evidence synthesis under the supervision of the principal investigator
• Publish research outputs in leading peer reviewed journals with an international audience 
• Effectively disseminating research findings at internal and external scientific meetings and conferences, making research accessible to lay and expert audiences
• Engaging with relevant academics and professional networks through active membership of societies, associations etc.

About the Role

The Research Assistant will support an 18-month qualitative, proof of concept study investigating barriers to learning and forms of non-learning among Further Education sport student.

Working under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, Dr. Mark Partington, you will contribute to sustained fieldwork within a partner FE college, including non-participant observations, stimulated recall interviews with tutors and students, transcription, anonymisation, secure data management, coding and literature collation. 

The role requires experience in qualitative research, careful handling of sensitive educational data, and the ability to organise a substantial dataset comprising field observation notes and interview transcripts. You will attend regular research team meetings, support analysis and contribute to the development of empirical work.

• Experience in designing and executing research using qualitative research design
• Experience of high-quality report writing
• Experience of searching bibliographic databases
• Demonstrate high level skills in in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and the production of databases
• Able to work on own initiative, independently as well as part of a team
• Able to organise and prioritise work effectively demonstrating flexibility and reliability to meet required deadlines
• Able to work within ethical guidelines and maintain high levels of research integrity at all times, including the management of research data
