About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Digital Learning team at an exciting time as we move into a period of Digital Transformation at the University.

Your main duties and responsibilities will include:

• Providing expert, proactive technical user support and guidance for the University’s centrally managed learning technologies, ensuring reliable, high quality digital experiences for staff and students
• Collaborating with Digital Learning colleagues in the testing and implementation of new system features or integrations, and maintenance of system processes, including engaging in strategic digital projects
• Taking lead responsibility for the support of Professional Support staff with administrative responsibility in our Learning Management Systems, including communications and training for administrative features
• Planning and managing project work packages to completion, engaging with colleagues and stakeholders across the University

This role offers the opportunity to work pro-actively and have an impact on how we support users of digital systems and in ensuring that technical developments are implemented effectively.

About You

As Support Officer (Digital Learning), you will have:

• Proven experience delivering high quality user support with effective problem solving abilities, including troubleshooting complex technical issues and escalation with suppliers
• Expertise in digital learning systems, including maintenance, feature testing and implementation and analysis of data, considering the user experience and needs of the service
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling you to provide clear guidance to a non-technical audience, and build productive working relationships across academic, administrative, and technical teams
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan, prioritise, and manage multiple demands including project work, report building, and daily support, adapting effectively to changing circumstances

This is a high-profile role with significant scope to shape strategic direction, drive transformation, and deliver lasting impact. 

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will provide strategic leadership for digital, data and technology, defining how systems, platforms and data capabilities evolve to enable institutional goals. You will lead the development and delivery of a coherent digital transformation strategy and roadmap, translating ambition into clear priorities, investment decisions and deliverable programmes, while shaping a modern, high-performing Digital, Data and Technology function and embedding a service-led, user-focused culture.

Working closely with the Executive Team, you will act as the University’s senior authority on digital and data strategy, advising on innovation, investment and risk. You will lead the adoption of modern platforms, enterprise systems and cloud services, alongside strengthening data capability, governance and accessibility to support institutional performance and planning.

You will bring a strong track record of leading digital, data and technology functions within a complex organisation potentially from higher education, the wider public sector or a comparably sophisticated environment. You will bring demonstrable experience of shaping and delivering large-scale digital transformation alongside a deep understanding of enterprise systems, data architectures, and modern digital service delivery. As a senior leader, you will operate confidently at a strategic level, with the credibility to influence across the organisation and the ability to build and develop high-performing teams, fostering a culture that combines operational excellence with innovation, service orientation and continuous improvement.
