About the Role

As Senior Clinical Lecturer / Senior Academic GP in Community-Based Undergraduate Medicine, you will contribute to the coordination, support and quality enhancement of community placements, working closely with GP Clinical Placement Supervisors (CPS) and other community educators. As well as supporting the MBChB programme through engagement with placement providers and curriculum delivery,

You will work collaboratively with the Practice Education Team and Professional Support colleagues to maintain effective relationships with placement providers and community partners, and respond to educational issues

Within the University, you will contribute to teaching, simulation, curriculum development, assessment, peer review of teaching and admissions processes. You will also engage in educational scholarship and contribute to innovation in teaching and learning practice.

This post may be appointed as either a Senior Clinical Lecturer or Senior Academic GP depending on the successful candidate’s qualifications, professional background and experience. The role is open to applicants from both clinical and non-clinical backgrounds, with appointment made at the appropriate level and job title within the University’s academic framework.

About You

As Senior Clinical Lecturer / Senior Academic GP in Community-Based Undergraduate Medicine you will have substantial experience in medical education, health professions education, or a related academic or clinical field, and a developing or established profile in educational scholarship, research, professional practice or curriculum development.

For clinical applicants, you will normally hold full professional registration, appropriate postgraduate qualifications, and completion of recognised specialist training (e.g. CCT or equivalent), with experience of primary care or community-based clinical practice where applicable.

For non-clinical applicants, you will be able to demonstrate equivalent expertise and credibility through significant experience in medical education, health professions education, higher education curriculum development, or related academic practice.

To be successful you will further enrich our student’s experience through your expertise and subject knowledge as evidenced through your qualifications and extensive experience of professional practice. In return, you will join a forward thinking and dynamic team that pushes the boundaries of curriculum development within medical education.

About the Role

As Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Psychology, you will play an important role in delivering an outstanding student experience while contributing to the continued development of our teaching and research. You will teach across our psychology portfolio, including core areas of the British Psychological Society curriculum, with opportunities to contribute to applied pathway modules and qualitative and quantitative research methods.
 
 Your key focus will be to:
 • Deliver engaging, inclusive and research-informed teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes;
 • Contribute to curriculum development and provide high-quality academic and pastoral support that helps students achieve their potential; and
 • Develop high-quality research and knowledge exchange, contributing to the Department’s research culture and future REF activity.
 
 At Senior Lecturer level, you will also have opportunities to take greater responsibility for curriculum leadership, quality enhancement, research activity and supporting the development of colleagues.
 
You will join a collegiate and ambitious Department with specialist facilities including, eye-tracking and behavioural testing facilities, alongside established national and international collaborations.

As Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Psychology, You will have strong subject knowledge, and the ability to inspire students through engaging and effective teaching. You will be a collaborative and adaptable colleague with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a commitment to supporting students with diverse academic and personal needs.
 
You will be able to contribute across our teaching portfolio, including pathway provision and qualitative and quantitative research methods, and demonstrate the potential to produce internationally excellent research.

You will be motivated to develop research, knowledge exchange and external networks that create impact beyond academia. For appointment at Senior Lecturer level, you will bring significant higher education teaching experience, innovative approaches to teaching and evidence of research publication activity.
