About the Role

As a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Exercise Physiology, you will make a significant contribution to teaching, research and academic development within the Department of Sport and Physical Activity. You will play a key role in delivering high quality, research led teaching across our Sport and Exercise Science programmes, including the supervision of undergraduate dissertations and, where appropriate, postgraduate research students.

You will contribute to the delivery of core modules aligned to your expertise and experience, with particular opportunities to teach in areas such as Exercise Physiology, Exercise and Health, Clinical Exercise Physiology and Applied Practices in Exercise and Health Science. Through your teaching, supervision, and personal tutor duties, you will support students to achieve their academic potential and progress into graduate employment or further study in line with their aspirations.

Alongside your teaching responsibilities, you will be expected to contribute to the research activities of one of the Department’s Research Units and to meet the qualitative and quantitative requirements for submission to the next Research Excellence Framework. You will play an active role in strengthening the quality, impact and profile of the Department’s research and/or in expanding knowledge exchange and continuing professional development activity aligned to departmental and institutional priorities.

You will also contribute to the wider academic life of the Department, including curriculum development, student recruitment and engagement, and the delivery of an excellent student experience supported by outstanding specialist facilities at the Ormskirk campus.

As part of the University’s ongoing commitment to redeployment, please note that this vacancy may be withdrawn at any stage of the recruitment process if a suitable redeployee is identified.

For informal enquiries about this vacancy, you may wish to contact: Dr Kelly Marrin, at marrink@edgehill.ac.uk

About You

You will be an enthusiastic, collaborative and student focused academic with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a strong commitment to delivering an outstanding teaching and learning experience. You will be an experienced and effective academic with a clear understanding of the professional competencies defined by our endorsing body, the Chartered Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (CASES), and a passion for evidence based teaching practice.

You will have an established or developing research profile in Exercise Physiology, alongside substantial teaching experience at undergraduate level and, where appropriate, postgraduate level. You will be committed to maintaining and expanding your research and/or knowledge exchange activity, and to engaging in ongoing professional development that aligns with the strategic priorities of the Department.

Your qualifications, experience and professional approach will demonstrate your commitment to enriching the student experience through subject expertise, high quality teaching and active engagement with research. In return, you will join a supportive, ambitious and forward thinking Sport and Exercise Science team within a vibrant department recognised nationally for excellence in teaching, research and impact.
