About the Role

The department of Social Work and Wellbeing is a well-established and successful department within the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Medicine. The current portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes have experienced a growth in popularity over recent years, reflected in an increase in applications. These are contemporary and exciting programmes which aim to develop graduates who are highly employable and well equipped to work in the field of health and social care. 

The department is dynamic, forward thinking, innovative and research active, delivering a variety of counselling, psychotherapy and mental health qualifications. Our suite of programmes offer diverse opportunities for our students, whilst the diverse backgrounds of the academic team complement each other, leading to a collaborative and academically stimulating learning environment for both students and staff. Coming to work in our department, you will help develop and deliver dynamic learning programmes that meet the needs of learners and utilise a diverse range of teaching and learning strategies. 

You will be proactive and dynamic in your approaches to teaching, learning and assessment and able to reflect on your own skills and knowledge and posses a keen interest and enthusiasm in your subject area and a creativity to how you will impact knowledge and understanding. We are looking for an outstanding professional, who is motivated and committed to the success of their students and be able to support the diverse academic and personal needs of the individual students.

You will be an enthusiastic and friendly professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills coupled with a commitment to providing an excellent student experience. A background in counselling and psychotherapy with supporting qualifications and experience is essential. 

It is important to note that the successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service and that this will form part of the conditions of offer of employment.
