About the Role
As Associate Director Legal and Compliance Services, you will act as a trusted advisor to the University Executive and internal stakeholders at all levels, supporting the University’s legal and contractual needs, and managing, advising on and mitigating legal risks .
You will lead the Legal and Compliance Services team, providing in house legal advice to support a wide range of business activities, and strengthen frameworks to ensure University wide legal compliance, delivering strategic guidance across legal matters and overseeing specialist teams covering data protection, immigration and consumer law.
You will form good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and act as a gatekeeper for external legal advice where appropriate. You will also be an integral member of the broader team responsible for institution-wide governance, strategic assurance and risk oversight, under the Chief Student and Governance Officer.

About You
We are seeking a qualified solicitor with a current SRA Practising Certificate. You will have significant post qualification experience within a complex, regulated environment ideally within higher education, plus a strong track record in service delivery and team leadership.
You will have proven experience, ideally in contracts, litigation, regulatory compliance, intellectual property and commercial partnerships. You will have a good understanding of the regulatory environment for Higher education, including the Office for Students and Office of the Independent Adjudicator frameworks.
You will demonstrate an aptitude for and commitment to engaging with sector networks and maintaining your professional awareness of emerging legal issues within the Higher Education sector. You will be able to highly effectively plan and organise service delivery and be responsive to business needs.
