About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to take on a high-impact leadership role at the heart of Edge Hill University’s digital journey. As Deputy Director of IT Services, Web & Digital Solutions, you will have the strategic insight and technical expertise to shape the University’s digital future, influence decision making, and drive meaningful innovation that enhances the experience of students, staff and stakeholders.

Your main duties and responsibilities will include:

• Leading the strategic planning, governance, and continuous improvement of the University’s web estate ensuring platforms are secure, accessible, and compliant, while supporting strategic goals through integrated digital service delivery.
• Leading and inspiring a skilled technical team of web and digital professionals fostering a culture of innovation, inclusion, and continuous learning.
• Drive transformation across the University by delivering innovative web solutions, shaping digital initiatives and change programmes, promoting cross-institutional collaboration working closely with Marketing, Communications and Student Recruitment, to ensure digital solutions support engagement, brand, and operational goals.
• Provide strategic leadership and expert advice to senior stakeholders and committees, ensuring alignment with the University’s priorities and long-term digital vision.
• Champion the adoption of emerging technologies to   future-proof the University’s digital services and enhance digital engagement. Lead on web governance and accessibility, ensuring services are inclusive, secure, and aligned with sector-leading practices.

About You

We are seeking a strategic and visionary digital leader with proven experience in leading integrated Web & Digital strategies and delivering transformation in large, complex organisations. Strong technical expertise in current and emerging web technologies, digital platforms, and service delivery is essential, as is a track record of supporting marketing, communications, and engagement through innovative digital solutions.

Demonstrable ability to lead high-performing teams, foster collaboration, and drive a culture of innovation and inclusion, with an in-depth knowledge of digital compliance, governance, and web accessibility. Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills, with the ability to operate at senior levels, you will have a flexible, forward-thinking mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.

You will be a strategic thinker, collaborative leader, and passionate advocate for digital excellence, ready to shape the future of digital services at Edge Hill University.
